When a locket containing Johnny’s rotting corpse is retrieved from a collapsed fire tower in the woods, a vengeful spirit fueled by a horrific 70-year-old crime resurrects his body and becomes determined to retrieve it. In a 2024 interview with Points of Reviews, Chris Nash explained the reason for the extensive reshoots: “I would say we shot 70 percent of the movie. That number fluctuates depending on my mood, but it’s about 70 percent. We were in a completely different location for four weeks instead of another lead actor who succumbed to a medical condition a week and a half into production, so we had to replace our ‘monster’ lead actor for the entire movie, so I thought if we could find someone similar in size, similar in build, we could avoid the change. But there’s so much about the performance. How they carry themselves, their walk, the heaviness in their legs; it all meant so much. We didn’t realize how significant this was until we had looked back over the first four weeks and seen the stark differences. They’re almost imperceptible until you realize that this is really the whole movie. It’s just watching someone walk and move and studying their behavior. However, that was just one of the reasons we felt it was necessary to start production and restart it completely.
Another reason, perhaps more selfish, was that I had always thought this movie could be shot in northern Ontario, using that wilderness. That’s where I’m from and where we originally shot it didn’t have the same vibe.
The trees didn’t feel the same. Everything felt different and too strange for what I wanted. Having had the opportunity to remake the film, I stressed to my production partners that I would like to go back to my hometown and encourage every friend and family member to give it their all. It’s not like we had the same budget to do everything, and luckily a lot of our crew stayed with us. A lot of our actors stayed with us and we were able to pull it all off.

While I enjoyed the unusual approach, I found most of the film to be lacking in major tension. There were a lot of lingering shots of the killer simply walking through the woods. This is mostly a by-the-numbers slasher film, with a really inventive kill during the yoga scene. I enjoy a few gory kills and practical effects. Unfortunately, some of the acting was not up to par. The line deliveries were extremely wooden. The best actor was the woman driving the car at the end of the film. The ending of the film was very anti-climatic. The film was not a disaster, but I felt it was overrated by critics.
