Featured on WatchMojo: 10 Best Summer TV Shows Off Your Radar (2018). (The review is for the first two seasons only) I went into this series not expecting to like it, but the plot, acting and camerawork are excellent. It’s basically mob wars in Montana with occasional massive doses of testosterone (cowboys with guns on horses while fishing)!
The series becomes tight at the beginning of the second season, but picks up again at the halfway point
The play is at its best when it shows how the chessboard moves the Duttons and how their enemies get involved. Kelsey Asbille is Monica’s weakest link and plays a bad hand, the plot takes strange detours and the acting just misses the mark. I think Cole Hauser as Rip might be the strongest performance (besides Costner himself) and any scenes involving Rip are welcome.
Thomas Rainwater is also excellent
The plot is buzzing and the landscape is beautiful. As Cormac McCarthy’s “All the Pretty Horses” was a little fiercer and more violent than the title suggests, this show is striking in a similar way. I highly recommend it and I hope I don’t have to wait so long to watch it…
