Synopsis
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as a long-standing rivalry comes to a head. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner previously filmed at Chavenage House (The Priory in Rivals). The same filming location was used to depict Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC adaptation of Poldark. I laugh at some of the criticism, obviously from readers who take themselves too seriously. It’s a Jilly Cooper adaptation. It’s not a series to be judged intellectually or morally. It’s so much fun. The cast is great. Yes, RCB’s hair and eyes are the wrong colour. As is Taggie’s hair. But they work. Somehow. RCB will disappoint some people because of that. But Alex Hassell gets everything about him. Danny Dyer is perfect. David Tennant is EXCELLENT as always. And Aidan Turner is simply gorgeous, if a little young to be playing Declan.Falters in the final third. But yes. It’s amazing fun. I watched the whole thing in one go.
